The River Avon and its banks support a lot of wildlife, both flora and fauna. Being tidal, the water level in Bristol changes dramatically twice each day. On a neap tide the level drops very low, down to a metre above sea level. Its at these low levels that the things dumped in the river are most visible. You can see parts of bicycles and trolleys poking up through the mud of the riverbed.
